In his first series of TAG, Goldman's initials are emblazoned on top of Snapchat screenshots of the Kardashian Family. The TAG silkscreens turn a seemingly mundane digital social media moment into a physical question of ownership, authority, and authenticity of celebrity culture that is so insatiably being consumed by society. The prints create a dialogue regarding the authorship and ownership of the Kardashian brand. For the average user, a social media platform like Snapchat is used for self- expression. They are the owners of their daily photos and videos shared to the world. In this case study on celebrity culture with the Kardashians, the authenticity of how genuine and creative their Snapchats really are is being questioned. The true owners of the Kardashian's Snapchats are the viewers - as their viewership enables the family to gain financially, slyly promoting different corporations and products without the viewer ever truly knowing. Thus, the ownership of the Kardashian snapchat is very much driven by its consumer. Something we believe is so expressive and creative is actually very monetary and calculated. By superimposing the TAG logo without editing or altering the screenshot at hand, I prove this very fact - that we consumers may not physically have ownership of the Kardashian snapchat - but are instrumental in its daily fruition.
